Flathead catfish are in my experience uncommon in the Houston area. The specimens illustrated here were all collected in one afternoon at Buffalo Bayou at Highway 6. A total of five were collected and as of this writing are the only ones I've ever found. They were collected using a dipnet as they were hiding in vegetation at the water's edge.
