RIBBON SHINER Lythrurus fumeus

The Ribbon Shiner is fairly widespread in clear moving waters north of Houston.
It is perhaps the most common minnow in the Winter's Bayou crossing of
Route 150 in San Jacinto County -- even more common than the ubiquitous
Blacktail Shiner. I caught at least 50 of these minnows in day of cast
netting in this general area.
