The Spotted Sucker is sporatic in occurrence in my experience. In Caney Creek
at Highway 59 during the winter, I caught and released eight large adults in a
single deep pool. During a subsequent collecting trip I caught a couple more,
but haven't seen any others in the area. In contrast I almost alway find
Blacktail Redhorse in this Creek. In a few hours of cast netting in the San
Jacinto and Winter's Bayou crossings of Route 150 in San Jacinto County, I
caught 20-30 Spotted Suckers. All but two were 2" fingerlings.
